their These slings last forever. My fifth child is in the sling that my first child went in. He is colicky and the only thing that calms him is sling-time. Buy an extra one so you can keep one in your car and one in your house. If you are having trouble figuring it out, check with the local La Leche League or with a lactation consultant. They always have people available who use slings and who love to help other moms.

The sling is the best piece of baby equipment out there. One piece with so
many options, you can carry a tiny baby or a big boy toddler, each in several
positions, you can change diapers on it, you can attach a teething ring or toy,
you can use it as a blanket/lovey. They can sleep or nurse, cuddle, see the
world or have a quiet retreat all right next to mommy. Mommy is also happy with
a happy baby and two hands free. My baby and I love our sling! Hubby got it for me as a
Christmas gift before our son was born. I started using it when he was around 2
weeks old and he is now 19 months and 27 lbs. We love it for church, the grocery
store, the movies, in the evenings while doing prep work for supper when waiting
for daddy to get home from work, and anytime he doesn't feel good and needs
cuddles while mommy gets stuff done. We do use a stroller on occasion, but the
sling always goes in the carry basket underneath - it's as much a necessity as
the diaper bag. I can't imagine not having the sling. Kristina
I purchased my sling when I was 9 months pregnant with my first child. I had
seen a woman wearing an OTSBH when I was working and asked her about it. She was
quick to inform me of the benefits and different ways to use it. I was sold! I
first put my daughter in it when she was 2 weeks old, she was not happy at first
but it didn't take long for her to now love it! I love it because she is close
to me and strangers don't try to touch her or get too close. Also I know she
will always be happy if I have her in it, even for long periods of time (unlike
her stroller or car seat). I get many comments and questions about my sling and
I am always quick to tell them how much I love it and how to get one! THANKS
OTSBH! Shell
I got my sling 7 years ago and swear by it. We have a daughter who lived in
her sling. At three weeks old we took her to Disneyland and she slept and nursed
all day without fussing. At 5 months we went camping for a week and believe me
the sling was so helpful when we walked up 2 miles to see a waterfall. She
finally outgrew it at 5 years old, well my back outgrew her weight. It was great
when she got older and we did not want to take a stroller because she was old
enough to walk but still got tired after an all day event. I have bought 4 more
for friends who have had children, but none of them used them as much as I did.
I guess the key is patience to many new parents give up on the sling before they
really give it a chance. Stick with it, I know it feels a little strange at
first and there is the fear that the baby is going to fall but trust in it. We
are now trying for another baby and I will not be without a new sling.

I love my sling. I didn't get one with my first until she was 9 months, but I
still enjoyed it for a year after that. With my second daughter, she "lived" in
her sling. And it made it much easier to enjoy time with my oldest. Now we are
preparing for #3 and I know I will be enjoying my sling again.
I just got my first baby sling when my newest baby was 6 weeks old. How I
love it!!! After 9 children and only having a front snugly which they out grew
by 4 months, I just love having the sling that I can put the baby in and do
everything that I need to with hands available to use. I put him around to my
back one night and made dinner for my family of 12. What a blessing to keep the
baby happy; he slept the whole time, when he had been fussy, so that I can work
in the kitchen and not worry about him getting hurt. I get comments about my
baby holder every time I go out. I truly love it. Lori Love the sling! We spent $100.00+ on the Bjorn
Active, it is ready for This is our third child and I wish we had been
in the know long Thank you OTSBH! What a blessing to have this
product available. I bought the sling from my doula when she came to visit me
in the hospital after the birth of my second son. I used it for the first time
after his circumcision when he was 8 days old. I was so nervous about people
trying to take him and pass him around after his surgery that I tucked him in
and noone tried to take him from me. He was so comfortable the he slept the
whole time and anyone who wanted could peek in to see him. He's now 11 months
old and 22 lbs. The Baby Bjorn that I borrowed is getting uncomfortable and is
only rated to 25 lbs. The sling is a lifesaver for us because I still have my
hands free for my 3 year old and I can tuck the baby in and go wherever we need
to go without the stroller. Great for short trips to the corner store. With a
little more practice I'll be able to use the sling in positions other than tummy
to tummy. I love the OTSBH! I am a mother of three. For my first 2 children I
used a Snuggly front-carrier. I think I only used it a handful of times
as it was so uncomfortable. When I was pregnant with my third child I
bought the Over-The-Shoulder-Baby-Holder. My youngest daughter, now 22
months, still occasionally likes a ride in the sling. I've LOVED my sling and so does my "baby".
She is now 3 1/2 yrs old and from time-to-time STILL asks for it. Still
carries ALL of the same benfits as when she was an infant, but now I can only
carry her for about a half an hour at a time. Her sisters, now 15 and 13,
have also I LOVE my sling. I can not function without it.
I requested one as a birthday present before I had my daughter, my family and
friends thought I was nuts for not wanting an infant carrier car seat. Now
they see the sling they know why. My husband has even thought about
wearing it. It was wonderful when I took my daughter on plane trips to the
coast. Or when I have to work late, she can just sleep in the sling.
The best birthday present I have ever gotten. "My friends frequently describe their
sling as 'A Lifesaver'---especially for the colicky baby." Kathleen I had to write to tell you how much I love my
sling! My baby is three weeks old and was starting to have a fussy time in
the evening. Now I just put her in the sling and she's as happy as can be.
I've worn her to walk, so now I can easily get my exercise. Yesterday we
were out and got lots of compliments on the neat baby carrier. I really
liked how easy -- and discrete -- it was to nurse her. Lisa I was already sold on wearing my baby in a
sling, so first I would like to make some comments about Slingbaby. It's
absolutely the best site for buying a baby sling. Customer service was
very fast and friendly, and special efforts were made to obtain a sling directly
from the manufacturer in the color and pattern I had requested -- FAST!!!!
I was extremely impressed. I too have a sling baby. I bought my
first sling when my third child was 2 months old. She is now 6 months old
and she gets excited when she sees me coming with it. How I wish I had
known about slings when my oldest (now 5 years old) was born. I never go
anywhere without my sling. I have several and keep one in the car and one
in the house. I even bought one at a second hand store to use at the local
play pool (it is only knee deep). I can wear the baby and still have my
hands free to help my older two kids out. When in the pool, I can get the
sling damp so the baby stays cool. She also stays covered and out of the
sun! It has also been a lifesaver for me in the evenings when my 3 year
old toddler has her "needy" times. I can wear the baby while I
help my toddler, prepare dinner (not cooking it though) and all kinds of other
activities! Before I purchased my sling, my 3 year old would say to me,
"Mommy, you only have one hand?" because I always had the baby in my
arms. Now, my daughter says with obvious happiness, "Mommy, you have
two hands!" when I am wearing my sling. I have become a huge sling
advocate and even recently bought one for a friend of mine for Mother's Day.
It is definintely the absolute best piece of "baby equipment" I own.
I never use my infant carrier in stores or even the stroller. My husband
fondly refers to the baby and I as "Kanga and Roo." I got my sling when my daughter was just a few weeks old. She is now almost six months old and got too heavy for her infant car seat so I was left with a dilemma of putting her in the shopping cart, which I didn't want to do on account of germs and she can't even sit up yet. The sling is the answer here! It is so great, it really makes it easy to shop and they feel so much lighter when you carry them in the sling instead of the infant seats. She loves looking around and the sling is roomy enough to tuck a blanket in with them, or a toy. I love this sling it is really comfortable to wear and very easy to use, and most of all the baby loves it too. Sarah "We went to Disney World with our 14 month old and 3 year old both in slings. It was so easy not to have to mess with strollers when boarding the rides, and they could fall asleep whenever they wanted and we could still go into exhibits and shows." Jeff "Our youngest child is almost three years old and weighs about 22 pounds. She is very small for her age due to certain health problems she has had. She recently started walking and when I go places now does not want to be in the stroller or in my arms, she wants to go, go, go! I ordered a sling, and received it on the day I felt I needed it most! I had several errands to run, was trying to carry my little one, plus my purse and diaper bag, and keep track of our two other children. I was happy to go to the post office to find my sling had arrived! I use it all the time now, it frees up my hands to help with carrying other things or to hold hands with my other two little ones. And best of all Kaylee is content to ride in the sling, and I feel a special bond with her held close to me. I recommend it to anyone who is having a baby, the sling would also make a terrific baby gift!" Beth G.
I have used my sling for carrying everything from babies to gallons of milk... and could not imagine life without it. I received my sling as a gift from a friend who bought it at a garage sale... once I mastered the feel of it... I was never without it (before that I used a front carrier, but never liked having to strap my son in...) he is now 3 1/2, and still occasionally gets to ride in the sling (which is a huge treat to him!). I used it with him constantly until I became pregnant with our daughter, who is now 14 months old... now I use it constantly with her! This sling has been patched and repaired countless times, and is in rather shabby condition... yet I can't bring myself to retire it... it is funny really...I think the that sling came the closest thing to a "lovey" or baby blanky that our kids had.. (next to mommy that is!). yet I find it is hardest for me to replace it (hardest on myself) so I came up with a new use for our soon to be retired sling.... Our beloved ragged old sling will be sewn into our crazy quilt... and will forever be a part of our family... Our kids both breast fed (daughter still does) ... slept, traveled, in that sling ,and maybe one day, our grandkids can gain some pleasure from it as well! Now we anxiously await our second sling! Jenni
"We have tried different infant carriers with our three
kids. We have a backpack type of contraption that is bulky and difficult
to use. We also have a front carrying type of holder that is tough on the
lower back. The sling however is comfortable to wear and convenient, as
well as very portable!" "I didn't have the pleasure of
having a sling with my first baby. I splurged and bought a sling for my second.
It was the best money I have ever spent on a baby product. It was the only thing
that soothed him during his fussy period in the evening. My friend and I both
have babies the same age and would often go to the mall and wear our babies. We
got a kick out of the fact that we were nursing and shopping at the same time
and no one had a clue. My son is now 1 and I still carry him around in it.
Looking back, I don't know what I would have done without it, especially because
I already had an active toddler at home when our baby arrived. This is a product
I urge all my pregnant friends to get. If you can get nothing else, get a sling! "She was so cute that I took some video footage of her while looking in the mirror. She was so comfy by the time it came to go to bed that I went to sleep with her in the sling. " Kymberlee My daughter is so much a "slingbaby" that my
husband has ordered his own! He did not fit mine (regular), so he finally
asked for his own (long). He got it in two days! We could not
believe it. My husband was very excited! We are even more excited as
we realize we really have no need for the stroller, anymore and can take the
slings anywhere we go. We can hold either child and have more space in the
trunk! Plus, we will fit in those more awkward areas where strollers are
nearly impossible to maneuver. Jennifer With my first child I experienced all the anxiety and
concerns that come with being a first time mom. I received the babysling
the day before our son was born (he was an early blessing) and although it took
me awhile to get it out and learn how to use it, I found so much peace and
comfort from wearing him. Now I take it everywhere and love having him
close. I get lots of questions and compliments when I wear him and it is
my number one baby shower gift. Thank you. I just got my first sling for my two month old daughter Ahmee. The first time I put her in it she cried. I adjusted it, tried again, started walking and swaying and within a minute she was sound asleep. The best thing about it is how much easier it makes it to go from sitting to standing or any other change in position without waking her. I haven't tried nursing her in the sling yet but I'm sure after a little practice we'll get it down. I can tell already the sling is going to be one the best purchases I have ever made.
